Sermon Dated 8th August 2021 and titled;
SETTLE IN MY LIFE JESUS
_____________________________________________
Main text: Luke 7:36- 47
______________________________________________
Introduction :
It's every one's prayer to have Jesus settle in our lives!
However, before we ask Him to settle in us, Are we ourselves settled with Him?
The issue is not about inviting Jesus in your life only but settling with Him! By this I mean remaining in good terms with Him in order to avail His power for you and others. The truth is that every believer is baptized by the holy Spirit but his presence doesn't mean his availability. You need to be in good terms with God in order to avail his power (Dunamis) James 5:16.
Content:
From our main text, we're told about two categories of people.
👉The Pharisees (hypocrites). This points to people who only invite Jesus in their lives but don't have much to do with Him. They just want to show off that they possess Jesus but not allowing Him deal with their sins.
Jesus was invited by a Pharisee but he failed to do what was expected of him
*Question
Are you doing what is expected of you in your relationship with Jesus?
The Pharisee wasted all his time grumbling about the association of Jesus with the sinners yet this was Jesus' target.
" It is not the healthy who need a doctor " Mark 2:17
Let us stop grumbling and hypocrisy as we're dealing with Jesus.
👉The second category are the sinners . In the same story we're told about the sinful woman who only heard about Jesus and without invitation reached Him.
" Draw close to God and He shall draw closer to you" James 4:8.
The woman poured out her heart by weeping to the extent of wetting Jesus feet. She also did what was required of her by wiping her tears off Jesus' feet with her hair and also applying the perfume she had carried along.
Brethren let's learn to give something to Jesus. Let stop loving Him with empty words.
The woman was forgiven because she was real. Let us be real and bold if we're to settle well with our master.
👉In conclusion, the availability of God's power is dependant on our authentic attention to Him by being creative and sensitive of what He tells us.
